Artist: Nguyen Hong Son

Hong Son was born in Hanoi, Vietnam in 1955. He graduated from the Hanoi School of Fine Arts and from Hue's Fine Arts University, where he later became a lecturer. He is a member of the Thua Thien-Hue City and the Ho Chi Minh Fine Arts Associations.

You can see many of his paintings in private collections throughout the world, especially in France, Germany, Singapore and the United States of America. He specialises in using lacquer on wood, oil on canvas and ink on canvas.

Hong Son believes that painting the same style can be boring not only for him, but for his followers. He is constantly researching for new ideas which represent every day Vietnamese rural life. His images catch the moment where the people are working hard in the farms, yet also enjoying life during festivaties. He is a true master of many different techniques, he prefers to paint cubism and asbtract. You will see that Hong Son is clearly expressing his true feelings and emotions in his work.

He was once quoted, "I will continue to paint until I can no longer hold a brush."

Hong Son has participated in many National Exhibitions in 1980,1985, 1992, 2000, 2007, 2008 and 2009 in Vietnam.
